Gamma Chi Epsilon is a Christian sorority dedicated to showing women that there is more to life than what this world wants us to believe. The Ladies of Gamma Chi are here to listen, encourage, and pray. We want all women to walk in the fullness that God has for them.

Purpose:

Gamma Chi Epsilon Christian Sorority, Inc. exists for the sole purpose of lifting up the name of Jesus and spreading the Gospel through love and sisterhood, to teach women how to become prudent, virtueous, and still have fun in today's society without compromising their beliefs. This is done by providing a source, not only through sisterhood, but through teaching, reproofing, and encouraging.

Scripture Theme:
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

History:

Gamma Chi Epsilon Christian Sorority, Inc. was founded on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO. It was founded on April 19, 2005 by five Godly women. These women are Arsenia Tate, Chela Rutlin, Grethal "Dana" Hassell*, Ivory Polk, and Sheena Ivy.

On March 10, 2006, God provided an opportunity for six lovely women to join Gamma Chi Epsilon on Southeast's campus. The Alpha flock consisted of Tina Tribbitt, Malissa Beecham*, Elfirma "Jean" Furlow*, Chaunda Jefferson*, Teresa Cross*, and Keanna Hamptiol*. Two flocks proceeded this group of women, members included: Danielle Moore, Tamarra Thompson, Gabrielle Banks, and Tiffany Clark.

On March 2, 2008, God allowed Gamma Chi Epsilon to claim more territory for Him. We expanded to St. Louis, MO and introduced our Beta Chapter. Alpha flock of this chapter consisted of two lovely women: Nyna Wilks and Priscilla White. We are yet expanding, with a few members located now in Kansas City, MO and Atlanta, GA.

Gamma Chi Epsilon has gone through a reconstruction process where God has shown us the various things we need to continually work on. We will never say that we are perfect, but we will strive for perfection and continue the journey that God has placed us on.

Gamma Chi Epsilon Sorority has built a organization that seeks to impact the lives of people. We exist for the sole purpose of lifting up the name of Jesus. The Bible tells us that we are in the world but not of the world (John 15:19). We believe in teaching women how to become prudent and virtuous while still have fun in today’s society without compromising their Christian beliefs. This is done by providing a source of sisterhood, teaching, re-proofing and encouraging.

Gamma Chi Epsilon seeks for women who are committed to promoting Christ. Gamma Chi Epsilon is not just something you do in college but it's a lifelong commitment. We value commitment, and consistency. Gamma Chi Epsilon Christian Sorority, Inc. is history in the making and needs strong, committed women to help carry this vision on for years to come.

Requirements:
* Must be under a covering of a church or actively seeking for a church home
* GPA of 2.5 and a minimum of 12 credit hours (College chapters)
* Between 18 - 35 years of age

Steps to pursuing membership:

* Attend informational or events to learn more about the sorority
* Ask questions about the sorority so you can become familiar with it's purpose * Attend informational meeting

Tamarra was part of the second flock to join Gamma Chi Epsilon Christian Sorority, Inc. She brings such sweetness and peace to this ministry. Through her time in this ministry and conversations I've had with her, I've learned that her heart's desire is to please the Lord. She has moments where she doesn't know and there are times where she's down, but those moments are not her lifestyle. Tami continues to pick herself up (with the help of her sisters) and run this race!

LADIES OF TRUE ESSENCE

Hello, my name is Chela Rutlin. I am 25 years old and was born and raised in St. Louis. I recently graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Master of Arts degree in Community Counseling. Here in St. Louis, I work at Mers-Goodwill Industries as an Employment Specialist, and I'm currently working on my counseling license at this company. I also work at a local, Christian-based, dance studio (as dancing is my passion), teaching young children and teens the genres of tap, Christian "hiphop", and jazz. I LOVE this job!!!!

God has really had His hand of favor over my life, as I grew up healthy and happy. He has blessed me with caring and responsible parents, who I learn from each day. I grew up in a small Episcopal (conservative) church, but didn't come to establish a personal relationship with God until I went to college. Now that I am growing in this relationship with the Father, God has shown me the role I am to play in my home. And I am excited to see the fruition of His work in each member of my family!

All in all, I am a simple person who loves the Lord and has a desire to reach His heart (without all the fluff, hooping & hollering). I desire for all to accept Him and grow in Him. In 2005, God put it on my heart to help found Gamma Chi Epsilon, to gather women who also love the Lord and have similar desires to serve. I truly love this ministry, I love what God has done in this ministry, and I'm excited to see what He's going to do with us in the future!!

Hello, my name is Arsenia Tate. I’m 25-years old and I was born & raised in St. Louis, MO. I must say that 2008 has truly been a year of “New Beginnings” for me. This year I have graduated from Southeast Missouri State University, had my “25th” birthday and got married to my husband Chaun and recently started on a Certificate of Christian Counseling at The City College of Ministry.

I currently work for a non-profit called "Faithful Friends" that provides at-risk children with mentors (called Friends). This program provides children with Friends (mentors) starting from K until they complete high school. I have 8 girls that I mentor and spend a minimum of 2 hours in school and 2 hours outside of school with them. The goal is to get these kids at an early age so that their path can be re-directed. There are 3 long-term goals that Faithful Friends strive for; 1. Prevent early parenting, 2. High School diploma or GED, and 3. Avoid juvenile system. http://www.thefaithfulfriends.org/

A little bit about my personality…ummm I think I pretty laid back, quiet or even shy at times. I’ve gained the title “Mama Cindy” from friends and sorors cause they say I act like a mom LOL! I’m very hands-on and creative, I love photography, I love to shop (even if it’s not for myself). And most of all I love my family!
I’ve been told before that I “think BIG” I have so many dreams and things that I want to achieve. I chase after God and not the dream because I believe the scripture that says seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added…I believe that those added things are my desires, dreams and hopes.

When it comes to my relationship with God I don’t even know how I got to the point were I am now. I didn’t grow up in church but I knew of God. When I was younger, my mom & I were Catholic. The turning point of my life was July of 2000. It was a month before my Senior year of High School…my mom passed away from breast cancer. Going through this taught me so much about God, life and faith. In my heart I knew without a shadow of a doubt that God would heal my mom and so did she. I was mad at God for taking her and the doctor for misdiagnosing her. How I remained sane…the world will never know? In 2003 I transferred to Southeast because I needed to get away and wanted to know God personally. I got saved Spring of 2003 and have not stopped since! Through this I have learned the power of forgiveness, faith & trust in God and the power of divine healing.

As for Gamma Chi...we are history in the making. In 2005, the Lord laid it on my heart as well as four other young ladies. I truly have a passion for Gamma Chi because it's ministry. My fellow-founders are women that truly have a heart for God! We don't need God with his "props"...we just want GOD! For us this is ministry. We try to work through real problems and issues with the young ladies that come aboard. We are just hungry for the heart of God...and he has great things in store for us!

Howdy!!! My name is Sheena Nicole Ivy and I am __ (u fill in the blank). Lol! Anyway I was born in Chicago, Ill but pretty much raised in Jefferson City, Mo. I graduated with my BA in Child Development May 2007 after many years of hard hard work. I just recently moved to Kansas City, Mo and have been blessed with one of the best jobs in the world.......teaching. I am a newlywed as of March 29, 2008 and I LOVE it! The Lord has blessed me with an awesome man of God who truly loves me with all his heart but most importantly loves the Lord first.

I have experienced alot of things in my short time on this earth but PRAISE GOD I am here and living for the one and only TRUE God. You don't know my story but Lord knows I am a walking testimony. When I lost my father in 2001 I gained a heavenly father and every since I have come to know the true depth of love.

If you want to know and feel real love (not from your boyfriend, friends, or even family) let me help point you in the right direction.........read Mark chapter 15. Jesus loves you and truly there is NO greater love.

My name is Ivory Polk. I was born and raised in St. Louis Missouri but now residing in Atlanta with my husband, James Polk. I am also perusing my passion in photography at The Art Institute of Atlanta. I love my family and my friends. God has taken my life and turned it up side down, He is molding, sculpting and beating at me but I thank him because He is creating a better me.

I grew up with extremely low self-esteem that would have me walking with my head down. I mastered maneuvering through Kirkwood Senior High hallways, without having to look up or bumping into someone. I had mild social anxiety and I was diagnosed as having a leaning disability. I didn’t understand the depth of how the enemy could get into your thoughts back then. The enemy made me feel as if I was crazy, as if I was so wired, even when I was around my family. I remember as a little girl, at eight or nine years old talking to God and praying that I would have a “happy life.” I remember making my own decisions concerning my attendance to church. My family didn’t go; it was only on those holidays that they went. In middle school I ask my best friend if I could go to church with her family, they attended church almost everyday.

It’s when I got to collage when I began to understand and grow more with God; it’s when I got to college when my life changed like I never thought it could. I began to see a whole community of young people on fire for God, it’s when I would cry and I knew that God was cleaning and restoring me. It’s when I would stay up with my friend and we would read the bible for hours into the early morning. That’s when I was determined to live for God till the day I die and give him glory in all that I do.

It’s in 2005 when I and four other ladies gave birth to our baby, Gamma Chi Epsilon Christian Sorority, Inc. We all have a unique love for Gamma Chi, we are trying our very best to be the women that God is calling us to be. We are striving toward the mark, with God we will fly high and not faint. Gamma Chi has taught me so much...how to love and to have tough skin. When you are trying to seek God and you finally step into an area that God has placed you in it will always be a Judas in your life. Gamma Chi has had much adversity yet, I truly thank God. I thank Him for it all because just like Jesus; We will wash their feet with love and know that it’s destiny behind the things that may look like disaster. It is destiny that is pushing us forward. One of our main things are to not only build an earthly sisterly love but to build a spiritual sisterly love with each other. Gamma Chi is a sorority but it is ministry First.

This WILL be a good day, in Jesus' name!

Hey ladies!

I just want to encourage everyone to trust God today. With whatever situation you're facing. Keep on going ladies, the promise is almost here. Make a conscious decision this day to put on trust; to let go of fear(defn: faith in lies the enemy spoke), hurt, frustration, our own desires and preferences. God reigns! He is in control! God is not only Lord and heaven, He is also Lord of the earth! And no matter how much we dislike loneliness, being broke, rejection, poor decisions our family/friends make, our own nasty flesh, death, the state of the world....etc., we must face it. And it's easier to face with a 'renewed' mind, not the same mind we had on yesterday. So let's trust God with our lives and our minds today, letting the Holy Spirit (not us) filter the words that come out of our mouths. Let's give every bad habit, every unclean thought, and every insecurity to Him. Let's not only 'claim' freedom over our lives, let's WALK in it! We know of God's mandate for holiness, let's be nothing less. Let's not only 'have' faith, but let's EXERCISE our faith. Put it to work. We already know God's thoughts toward us (Jer. 29- peace, not evil, to give us an expected end). So let's work our faith, it will definitely be 'tried', but we will win ya'll. Lift up your heads, fix your hearts! The promise is close...and it will surely come. So let's just trust Him. And guess what yall? God is a GOOD God, a loving God, a JUST God. He is perfect, His will is perfect, and His statutes are perfect. What other reason do we need to trust Him? Trusting someone who not only "loves you to pieces", but also has the power to give you His all.....how can we lose?! We can't.....and we WON'T!

To the Body of Christ, to those of you who have a heavy heart, to those of you who are sick in your spirit and need God to do something RIGHT NOW, get in position with a humble spirit and pure heart and have a conversation with your father. He is the KING of Kings And LORD of Lords. It may be spiritual, social, mental or physical concerns that you have at this moment in time but know that God hears the prayers of the righteous.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT... PRAYER? PRAYING FOR OTHERS

(INTERCESSORY PRAYER)

The Lord instructed us to pray not only for our needs but to reach out and pray for others as well. We find this in I Timothy 2:1-6. "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." We are told to pray and to make intercession for all men. What is intercessory prayer? The Greek noun, "enteuxus," is the word for "intercession." It primarily denotes a "meeting with," a conversation or petition rendered on the behalf of others. "Intercessory prayer," then, is seeking the presence and audience of God in another's stead. Jesus was the greatest intercessor of all time. Isaiah 53:12 records the following prophecy about Jesus: "Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." Hebrews 7:25 speaks of Him as a high priest that is still interceding on our behalf. "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them." The Lord is looking for men and women today that are willing to enter into this ministry with Him. He has always sought people that would "stand in the gap" for others. Ezekiel 22:30-31 says, "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God." The Lord does not want judgment to fall upon people. He desires that they repent and return to Him. However, if they do not repent, judgment is inevitable. Prayer for others causes them to repent and seek God. Therefore, the Lord is always looking for those who will take a burden of prayer for the wayward ones, so that they might come to Him. He needs spiritual warriors who will selflessly intercede on behalf of others. The ministry of intercessory prayer perennially stands open for volunteers who will join the Lord in this work. Through this ministry one can circle the entire world interposing for the multitudes who have no one else to "stand in the gap" for them. I personally do not believe the Lord will call anyone into a public ministry unless the ministry of intercession has first become a priority in his life. There are many people eagerly wanting to do something for Jesus while this important field of work stands wide open. It is certainly not as glamorous as some other ministries, for no one is seen or applauded in their prayer closet, and perhaps that is exactly why there are so few volunteers. Even when people are interested in serving in this form of ministry, there is often a lack of knowledge as to the equipment and the keys needed to be effective and successful in it. This is presented here in hopes that if you have a heart toward God and are willing to become an intercessor, you will know how to obtain many victories. Intercessory prayer, being a ministry to others, is not something that directly benefits us. It is essentially an outreach ministry. Through it we can truly lay down our lives for others. As we are faithful by sacrificing our time on the behalf of others, the Lord then takes care of our needs. As we minister to others, the Lord ministers to us. While praying for others, we cannot neglect mentioning the added blessing of being in fellowship with the Lord. As the Holy Spirit directs us in the ways we are to pray for others, we need to keep in mind that He will always have us pray according to His Word. Negative prayers and judgment prayed down on people are not in harmony with the Spirit of the Lord. God is continually extending mercy and help. Some people in ignorance pray for God to do whatever it takes to save someone. They pray such prayers as, "Lord, if you have to break their back to get them to come to you, break their back Jesus, take their business away from them, but save them. God, if it takes a car wreck to save them, do it Lord. Show them, even if they have to get cancer." These are examples of the way some ignorant Christians pray. They are truly crimes against the heart of Christ. He came to save, not to destroy and kill. Luke 9:53-56, "And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village." No one gets saved just because he gets cancer. If that were true, then every one that had cancer would automatically come to God. Getting cancer, or being in a car wreck, never saved anyone. On the other hand, many people have died and gone to hell in these ways. Granted, some do come to the Lord when tragedy strikes, but it was the strength of someone praying for them and the mercy of the Holy Spirit that caused them to come to God, not the tragedy. Without the conviction of the Holy Spirit, their thoughts would never have gone out to God even in their crisis. God does not send calamities in order to bring people to Himself. He tells us in His word that it is the Spirit of God that "woos" and "draws" people to Himself. This is hastened as Christians pray. John 6:44 says, "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day." Praise God for intercessors that stand against the enemy and keep him from destroying the souls and lives of men, women and children who need the Lord. The ministry of intercession is a vital part of our Christian walk and we can never attain to maturity and become overcomers by slighting it. I often use the words "task" and "work" in reference to prayer because it is never easy nor convenient to pray with any discipline or consistency. We must remember that we have an enemy (the devil) who is constantly trying to keep us from our prayer life because he knows (better than most Christians) the damage done to his kingdom through it. Does your conscious recall the moment that it all Transformed… That it all transformed into something beyond your imagination… Something past your ability to want to accept or even comprehend.

As I look back and reminisce… I look back at the days past, As though I was just crying out to God, Crying out to God under that banner, Crying out to God in such a free manner,

I recall the fellow-shipping with my brothas and sistas… When we spent time in ministry, travailing and Being slain in the spirit, not being bound by man, Not being manipulated and taunted by the enemy, Thanking God and knowing that this… This place is where we were supposed to be.

I cry cause I remember the days… I remember them Like it was just yesterday...life changes so fast. Because I remember when chains and yokes were broken, I remember the scarifies-- the ones we made for each other. Though God works it all out for his good it does not negate my tears,

Cause I cry over the past, when we could sit and laugh, When we could be free and didn't want to flee, Flee as though we were in the hands of the enemy, We didn't have to tremble in the presence of the one... The one we were suppose to trust… We had our good days, bad days, even ugly days… But in the end, those days were wrapped in prayer and not fears,

But one day it changed…it shifted… Don't know the time, nor day but it transformed into something,

Not wanting to admit it, so denying, Denying to the point of almost believing it, Believing that maybe the world is wrong, and that one little building is right, Believing that maybe my Holy Ghost is broken, And their spirit is tight.

But it was something… it was that gut feeling, it was that purpose in our belly, It was that Holy Ghost that helped us... Helped us get out, Some say it should have been sooner but I say, better later than never,

We are out because things changed, We are out cause God spoke, Weather graduated or not we are out cause God knows.

It shifted… Couldn't tell the differences between a friend or a foe, Truth or Gossip, Man rules were spoken and not the Son of Man, Confusion suffocating the young people, Dying in their spirit, fearing the lies that are dressed up like truth, Just taking it… sitting and letting potential be stolen, Brains being strained by the enemy,

Trying to find God… Do you remember when you just got saved? Do you remember when you just wanted to do right and be right, Do you remember when you could finally… Finally understand the Bible for the first time in yo life, When you prayed out loud for the first time, uh do you remember? Cause all they wanted was a place that would help them find God, But where did that go… when did it all shift?

Is it true, "nothings worse than church hurt" Church is where you go to be healed, instead you vomit wounds, You beg for life but it should be given to you, it should dance in the atmosphere Oh God what happen, what happened to the days past when it meant something To have a home church, a place where you ran to and not from, What happen to the church that I speak of, the place that was home for some?

It changed, it changed in a way that we don't want to speak of but it did… It changed… It had you in a place, a place of insecurity, Feeling broke, busted and disgust, It tricked your thoughts, bound them up and disposed of them in man made concepts, Took your spirit, depleted it of meat, substituted it with processed feasts, It had you in a choke hold, made you close yet scared to move cause if you did, that would be the end of you, So your mind is to and fro and your spirit is weak but hey, it's not you who need the healing.

With my spirit grieved I cry out, I pour out my prayers to the ones who still are Scared, I cry out in my spirit to the heavens, that God will give them a spine, That they may stand tall and reject the rejected cause God didn't command it. I cry out to the heavens that He will cause them to be found. I cry out and I thank God, I thank You God, for it's good that you are our God And not man, Lord you will give chance after chance,

When I saw this movie it was like, oh my goodness! This movie has so many sides to it, it can relate to many situations. Though I was in the theatre I could not hold back my thanksgiving because it ministered to my spirit in such a way that kept me with my mouth open and my arms lifted. Man… God will teach you how to be quite and yet you are in the fire, you will learn how to preserve your oxygen. Though you may want to give up, it’s “something” on the inside telling you that you can’t give up, you have to keep going. Though it seems as though you want to just let everything go up in flames, why save something which is not appealing to you anymore. Feeling as though you have been burned by life on many occasions. Yet you wait for God, you wait for Him in all your pain, sickness and loneliness. You wait for God to speak and then you wait for Him to move. While we wait for God we have to worship because if we are not being kingdom minded the enemy will take our mind, making us think that we have lost it. We have to worship God T. N .T. We have to worship Him Through the fire because when it’s all over we will be gold in Jesus name. We also have to worship Him Though… though the situation is not the best, though people talk bad about us and they don’t even know our story, though it feels as if we will die if life hit us with one more blow. While we wait for God, we have to worship Him in spirit and in truth as the Bible says. It’s in our waiting, that God will cover us and when we look up, we will not look as we did prier to the fire. We will be stronger in our entire existence because we took the time to be filled with Gods Excellence, for He is the one and only Excellent God. Just worship in your wait.

How Do I Discern God's Will?

As Christians we are called to do God's will. But how do we know what God wants us to do?

I'll first open up with the most common (and wrong) way Christians determine God's will.

- I need to make a decision. I'll pray that God will tell me what I need to do.

This is wrong. Yet this is the way most Christians figure out God's will. I'll call this method of discerning God's will, "The Pray, Wait then Act" method.

Now before you call me a heretic, there's something fundamentally wrong with that statement. Have you figured it out yet?

Let me show how this type of thinking will get you into trouble.

Let's say I want to figure out how I need to talk to a person that just wronged me. Now, I go to God and pray about it. Now what? God's going to speak to me right? I'm somehow going to magically feel God's will? I'm going to hear that still small voice right? Well let me ask you this, "Are you without sin?" Cause that's the only way you're going to hear God's voice and only his voice.

Romans 7:21 - So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. [22] For in my inner being I delight in God's law; [23] but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members.

Okay, so let's even assume God is speaking to you, your sinful nature is telling you something different. But, wait, that's not all. Satan is there whispering to you too! Tempting you. So now you have God, your flesh and Satan all telling you to do something. (Note: The three enemies of the believer are Flesh, Satan and the world).

So how do we determine what is from God and what is from our flesh or Satan? What is incomplete with the "Pray, Wait and Act" method? We've made a fundamental error…

We forgot about scripture, which is called, "God's Word".

Going back to my example where someone wronged me and I'm trying to figure out what to do… Do you think any of these verses might help me figure out God's will?

MT 5:44 - Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

1CO 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. [5] It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

MT 18:21-22 - Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

All three of those passages have already told me how I should act. Those passages are God's will. It is God's will that I love and forgive. How much praying did I do to figure that out? None. Now I'm not saying prayer is useless. It's important, just not in the way most Christian are using it in the "Pray, Wait then Act" method. I'll show how prayer fits in it all in a bit.

Look at this, "2 Tim 3:[16] All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, [17] so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

Notice how the passage says "equipped for every good work." That means every single situation that you are in, the Bible already tells you what to do. God's Word tells you what to do.

If someone punches me in the face, how much prayer is going to magically open my Bible and point me to, " MT 5: [39] If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also."?

So what we have to realize is this… God has already told you what to do. You don't "Pray and Wait" because that's assuming God hasn't told you how he wants you to act. That would mean the Bible is incomplete. If that were the case then the verse would read, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for a bunch of good works. Not all of them. The others you'll have to pray about."

The "Pray, Wait then Act" method, actually neglects God's Word. This means that when someone uses this method, they actually end up doing their own will because God's will is located in the Bible – which they've neglected to check. But because they think the "Pray, Wait, Act" method is the correct way, they think what they're doing is actually God's Will – when really it's their own will. They actually make God into their own image.

So here are five principles to help us make sure we are doing God's will and not our own.

The Five Priciples of Discerning God's Will.

Here are the five elements to figure out what God's will for any situation.

1. Scripture.

Think of it this way. Instead of God speaking audibly to you, He made it really easy and wrote down his words so that we can 'listen' to his commands whenever we wanted.

PS 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Now the Bible isn't going to say if you should be friends with Billy, but it will say the types of friends you should have. It's not going to say if you should date Sally, but it will tell you the type of person you should date (or not date). It's not going to say that you should go to the State University, but it will tell you about calling, finances, responsibility, etc.

But now here's the thing. Just because you know the Bible, does that mean you know what passages to apply to your situation? And even if you know what passage to use, does that mean you know how to apply it?

Okay, I know I'm supposed to treat this person who just wronged me in love, but what words should I say? Should I even say anything now? Should I wait till he's calmed down? This is where #2 comes in.

2. Godly Wisdom.

James 1: [5] If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

Wisdom is "Knowledge Righteously Applied." You can have all the Bible Knowledge possible, and decide not to use it. Satan knows the Bible better than we do yet uses the Bible wrong. So knowing the Bible isn't enough, you have to know how to apply it in your situation.

Wisdom will figure out what words to say to the person who wronged you, or if you should wait till next week, or if you should keep your mouth shut and pray that God will change him. Wisdom will figure out which college to go to. Wisdom is what will say if you should spend God's money on a Toyota Camry or a Mercedes.

Wisdom takes scriptural principals and applies them to a situation by weighing the consequences and choosing the best (most scriptural) option.

Okay, great. But no one is as wise as they could be. So where do you go from there? You get more wisdom from others. Which is our next point.

#3. Godly Counsel.

God did not create us to be alone. He created us in fellowship with one another - often getting wisdom.

Sometimes you get wisdom from parents. EPH 6:4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Other Godly Counsel would be Pastors, Christian brothers and sisters, Scholars, books, reference guides, the internet, Bible Programs, etc.

You, of course, need to use wisdom (element #2) and see if what they are saying matches up with Scripture (element #1).

The next part is actually assumed in all of this but it's worth mentioning.

#4. Open Doors (Opportunities).

If God wants you to go in a certain direction he will open doors for you. Or he will close certain doors.

Rev 3 [8] I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut.

Each situation that you face basically is an open door – it's an opportunity. You have to keep your eyes open for opportunies because God wants you to do something. If you're not looking for open doors, then you'll be passing them by - and in essesnce, you'll be disobedient cause you were too lazy to look, so you ended up not doing what God wanted.

But be wary, Satan can open doors too. That's called temptation. Just because someone offers you drugs, doesn't mean that God opened that door. You must use Godly Wisdom, Godly Counsel and the Bible to determine who opened that door.

#5. Peace of Heart.

If you truly have an open door (#4) opened by God, where you are taking scripture (#1) and applying it (#2 and #3) then you will have a true peace of heart (#5) about it. Now I'm not talking about just being comfortable with your actions - because we can feel okay with our sin. I'm talking a true, God given peace. Peace in the midst of adversity, not just in fun or good times. Long lasting peace with God that we are doing the right thing.

Conclusion: Discerning God’s will is correctly applying God’s Word to your situations. We cannot possibly attempt to ask for God’s guidance when we neglect his Word and it’s application.

So how should you pray? You should be looking up scripture that applies and pray for wisdom, that you can apply scripture to your situation. Pray for Godly Counsel. Pray that God would open your eyes to opportunities.

It is now then we stop discerning God's Will by doing the typical "Pray, Wait then Act." Our method now becomes, "Take God's Word and Apply it."

RO 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. [2] Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Whats wrong with Jesus?

Genesis 1: 26-27

26.And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27.So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. -KJV-

Genesis 1:26-27
26 -27 God spoke: "Let us make human beings in our image, make them

So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,
the birds in the air, the cattle,
And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth."
God created human beings;
he created them godlike,
Reflecting God's nature.
He created them male and female.
God blessed them:

In the beginning, God created. As you can see from the above scriptures, God created man and women and he created them in his image, correct? So if God meant for us to be in the likeness of Himself why do we settle for less and try to be as man and not as the person he destined us to be.

We need to make the scriptures personal. We need to understand that God made Ivory in His image, not just man but Ivory is Gods creation and she is made in His likeness. Read the above Scripture in either version and every time it refers to a man/woman replace it with your name.

I was having a conversation with one of my sisters and I was telling her how I felt and I began to compare myself to others around me. I compared my life to theirs as though their life is the model for success, I compared my life to theirs as though it is the blue print. We always look at someone else and their grass and think it is greener than ours when its really the same color. God began to give me insight as I was talking to my sister and He let it be known that, here I am looking at other peoples life and not being satisfied when the real image I should be trying to compare myself to is the one and only living God. God took me to the above scriptures.

No where in the scriptures dose it read, that God made us in the likeness of Sam, who got this mansion and has everything he could hope and dream for but is lacking character. We look at the outside and we see the new clothes and the new house and the new husband and the newness around people but what we don't see is the heart of their issues. No matter how anointed and saved that person is they are still human and we put people and their experience on a pedestal when we should be exulting the Lord on the throne.

The scripture says that He give us dominion over the fish, the fowl of the air, over the cattle, over the whole earth and over every creeping thing on the earth. Do you really understand that we have access to dominate basically everything. We have the ability to have authority over everything that we can touch and not touch. We are spirit first so we have the ability to have access to both worlds. God releases us to manifest the gifts and the blessing but we settle for a new car like Johns, cause John got a really nice car. But while we are settling for Johns nice car, God is saying, but I'm offering you authority over the world. Better than that God already gave us the authority but we turn it down every time we get jealous or envious of someone else and what they have.

He's saying, I created you in my image so I can interact with you and you with me, so you can be on my level. Instead we want to operate beneath the level that we were created for. Why, why is that? Why do we lust after these things that are temporary anyway. Why, why do we do that? Is it because the enemy is the father of lies and he fools even the elect into thinking that things are better than what they truly are. We have to start studying the enemy like he does with us. When something looks too good, to the point where it distracts you and make you unappreciative of what you have, know that it's not all that good. Deal with what you have and know that it will do for now because what is for you, is for you. Whats wrong with Jesus? Absolutely nothing and I rather be in the image of God when the sky cracks than to have my identity striped just because i wanted to look, walk, talk and be Billy instead of the King of Kings and the Loud of Lords, Jesus Christ.

My prayer is that every jealous and envious spirit, every proud, every non-content, every lonely and sad, every suicidal and low self esteem spirit will leave you right now in the name of Jesus. I pray that you learn to hear the voice of the Lord and rebuke the voice of the enemy, I pray that your house is blessed and not cursed. I pray that you will learn to be content with this season of your life because it could always be worse, you could be six feet under but your not, so praise God for it. I Pray that you seek God more now than you have ever did in your life. I pray that you will be healed, renewed and blessed. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Proper Attitudes in Study

Ezra "prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord" (Ezra 7:10). Right methods of study must begin with right attitudes.

A. Appreciate the Importance of Study

People must be motivated before they will study a subject. Christians have all the reasons they could possibly need to study the Bible. Consider a few. As you do, note the emphasis on regular, frequent study.
#1: Study so you can obey God and grow in His service. Joshua 1:8 - Success in pleasing God requires obedience. To obey, we must meditate on God's word day and night. Frequent, regular study is required.
1 Peter 2:2 - Can a baby grow without nourishment? No, and neither can Christians grow without Bible study. Do we long for the word like a baby longs for milk if we neglect to attend assemblies or to study at home?
(See also 2 Tim. 2:15; Rom. 10:17; Matt. 4:4; John 6:44,45; 2 Peter 1:12-15.)
#2: Study so you can avoid error and false teaching. Hosea 4:6 - God's people were destroyed for lack of knowledge. Many Christians and congregations have been led astray by error and false teaching. To avoid this we must put teachers to the test (1 John 4:1,6). How do we do this unless we know God's word (Gal. 1:8,9)?
Acts 17:11 - The Bereans distinguished truth from error because they studied the word. To imitate their example, we must study "daily."

#3: Study so you can teach others. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 - Parents should teach their children diligently through the day. This requires us to first have God's word in our own hearts. How can we teach what we do not know?
Hebrews 5:12 - The time comes when we ought to be teachers, but these had not studied so they needed others to teach them! There is no excuse for Christians who do not study. Teachers know they need to study. If you are not a teacher, you must study to prepare yourself to become a teacher!

#4: Study to express love for God and His word. Psalm 1:2; 119:47,48,97-99 - One who delights in God's word will meditate on it day and night. The time we spend thinking about God's word indicates how much we love Him. Those who truly love Him will not complain about "having to go" to worship services or prepare for Bible classes. (See Psalm 19:7-11.)
John 14:15 - If we love God, we keep His commands (cf. 1 John 5:3). But obedience requires knowledge. So one who loves God must study His word.
Suppose a young lady is separated from her boyfriend. He writes every day, so she prominently displays his letters on the coffee table. But they sit there for days before she opens and reads them. Does she really love him? No, we want to hear from those we love. The Bible is your only way to hear from God. How much do you love Him?
If we studied all subjects as negligently as some people study the Bible, we would surely be ignorant people. On the other hand, if we would study the Bible as diligently as some people study about sports, hobbies, etc., we would all be excellent Bible students. How much more important is it to understand the Bible than to understand secular subjects?

B. Study with an Open Mind & a Love for Truth.

We must strive to learn truth and obey it regardless of the consequences. Seek it even if it disagrees with what we have believed in the past and requires us to change.

Acts 17:11 - The Bereans were also noble because they received the word with readiness of mind - minds open to truth.

Matthew 5:6 - Hunger and thirst after righteousness.

Matthew 13:14,15 - Some misunderstand truth because they close their hearts, eyes, and ears. They enjoy practices or have prejudices contrary to what God teaches. They have motives for rejecting Bible teaching, so they satisfy their own minds that it is not true.
If we do not have a burning desire for truth, God will not force us to accept the truth. He will let us be lost (cf. 2 Thess. 2:10-12; 2 Tim. 4:2-4; John 3:19-21).

C. Respect the Bible as Being Verbally & Infallibly Inspired.

If a person doubts that the Bible is God's infallible word, he is much more likely to disagree or reject it.The Bible is from God. 2 Timothy 3:16,17 - All scripture is inspired by God to teach us and provide us to all good works.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 - It is the word of God not of men (cf. Gal. 1:11,12).
1 Corinthians 14:37 - Paul wrote the commands of the Lord. To reject any command is to reject the will of God.

The Bible is verbally inspired.
Some people believe that God just gave the inspired men ideas, then let them explain them as they saw fit. This belief leaves room for error in the way the men expressed the ideas. "Verbal" inspiration means that every word written by the inspired writers was exactly the word God wanted.
1 Corinthians 2:10-13 - The Spirit guided men so they received, not just the ideas from God, but also the words from God.
Deuteronomy 18:18,19 - God put His words in the prophet's mouth, so the prophet spoke (or wrote) the very words chosen by God Himself.
God gave the inspired men the very words they used to express the inspired ideas.
(See 1 Cor. 2:3-5; Matt. 10:19,20; 2 Sam. 23:1,2; Ex. 24:3,4,7; Isa. 51:l6; Jer. 1:5-9.)

The Bible is infallible
The message of the inspired writers cannot possibly be wrong because God does not make mistakes.
Psalm 119:128 - God's word is always true and right.
Titus 1:2 - God cannot lie or be wrong.
Matthew 22:32; Galatians 3:16 - The Scriptures are so accurate that we can rely even on the tense of the verbs and the plurality or singularity of words.
We should approach the Bible with faith that every word is exactly right and true, otherwise we may reject its teaching.
(Cf. John 17:17; Psalm 33:4; 19:8; 147:4,5; Rom. 3:4; Job 37:16; Num. 23:19; Heb. 6:18; Deut. 18:20-22).

D. Believe that the Bible Can Be Understood.

Some believe that the Bible can be understood only by specially-trained preachers or priests, but not by the average person. As a result, they approach the Bible convinced they will never understand it, they put forth only a half-hearted effort, and of course they do not understand.
Mark 12:37; Acts 17:11 - Inspired teachings were addressed to the common people, not to some special elite group. (See also Gal. 1:2; 1 Thess. 1:1; 5:27; 2 Peter 1:1; Rev. 1:4.)
Mark 7:14 - Jesus required everyone among the great crowds of people to understand His teaching.
2 Timothy 3:16,17 - The Scriptures are profitable to teach and provide to all good works. What profit would they be if we could not understand?
People were expected to understand the written word (Eph. 5:17). Instead of just accepting whatever preachers say, people should use the scriptures to check out the teachers (Acts 11:17).

Overview of the Names of God in Scripture:

(1) Elohim: The plural form of EL, meaning “strong one.” It is used of false gods, but when used of the true God, it is a plural of majesty and intimates the trinity. It is especially used of God’s sovereignty, creative work, mighty work for Israel and in relation to His sovereignty (Isa. 54:5; Jer. 32:27; Gen. 1:1; Isa. 45:18; Deut. 5:23; 8:15; Ps. 68:7). Compounds of El:

El Shaddai: “God Almighty.” The derivation is uncertain. Some think it stresses God’s loving supply and comfort; others His power as the Almighty one standing on a mountain and who corrects and chastens (Gen. 17:1; 28:3; 35:11; Ex. 6:31; Ps. 91:1, 2).
El Elyon: “The Most High God.” Stresses God’s strength, sovereignty, and supremacy (Gen. 14:19; Ps. 9:2; Dan. 7:18, 22, 25).
El Olam: “The Everlasting God.” Emphasizes God’s unchangeableness and is connected with His inexhaustibleness (Gen. 16:13).

(2) Yahweh (YHWH): Comes from a verb which means “to exist, be.” This, plus its usage, shows that this name stresses God as the independent and self-existent God of revelation and redemption (Gen. 4:3; Ex. 6:3 (cf. 3:14); 3:12). Compounds of Yahweh: Strictly speaking, these compounds are designations or titles which reveal additional facts about God’s character.

Yahweh Jireh (Yireh): “The Lord will provide.” Stresses God’s provision for His people (Gen. 22:14).
Yahweh Nissi: “The Lord is my Banner.” Stresses that God is our rallying point and our means of victory; the one who fights for His people (Ex. 17:15).
Yahweh Shalom: “The Lord is Peace.” Points to the Lord as the means of our peace and rest (Jud. 6:24).
Yahweh Sabbaoth: “The Lord of Hosts.” A military figure portraying the Lord as the commander of the armies of heaven (1 Sam. 1:3; 17:45).
Yahweh Maccaddeshcem: “The Lord your Sanctifier.” Portrays the Lord as our means of sanctification or as the one who sets believers apart for His purposes (Ex. 31:13).

(3) Adonai: Like Elohim, this too is a plural of majesty. The singular form means “master, owner.” Stresses man’s relationship to God as his master, authority, and provider (Gen. 18:2; 40:1; 1 Sam. 1:15; Ex. 21:1-6; Josh. 5:14). (4) Theos: Greek word translated “God.” Primary name for God used in the New Testament. I just wanted to say that I am

proud of each and every one of you for allowing

God to birth out a ministry so great and powerful.

I love you and respect you all!

I am glad that this ministry has started,

because I know that God will continue it.

This ministry is truly "out the box!"

And I am not just saying all this because I am your friend.

But because this is what God has placed on my heart.

I love each and every one of you as a sister in Christ.

You all are examples to every female on

this campus, even the ones who are already in a sorority.

Here is a little secret I wanna tell you:

You girls are the real deal! You all are the true sorority!

It's not by accident that the first line is called..

True Essence.

Remember this...

You are the real sorority, because you represent a real God.

And you all are determined to not let your purpose

and representation of God be "watered-down" over

the years, like the other organizations.

Everyone knows that I love my 1yr old "son" to death (Ec7) ha ha.

But there have been many times where I wanted to quit and give up.

Surprising huh? I wanted to quit because

I listened to the insults and the underlined comments

made by people, I felt like I didn't have a support system.

But please girls, don't listen to the lies the Devil will tell you,

don't feel like you all don't have

any support because you all have each other and most of all... God.

That is all you need.

You know, you always hear people say,

"don't throw in the towel."

But let me "flip the script" on you all.

I encourage each and every one

of you to throw in the towel.

Now let me explain!

Why do people need towels?

To wipe the sweat off because they were sweating.

Why were they sweating?

Because they were working real hard,

playing a sport or exercising.

But this is how this relates to you.

Let God control your ministry, let God do all the work.

If you let God do all the "work," then you wouldn't be sweating.

If you aren't sweating, then you don't need the towel.

If you don't need the towel then...

throw it in!

Throw in the towel! You don't need it!

Allow God to work everything out. Therefore,

you don't have to worry or "work" to do everything.

Because when you work and worry, you start to sweat, and

God doesn't want you to "sweat" so throw in the towel!

God will do it all! If you allow him.

I pray that you all will continue

to fly like the beautiful eagle's you are.

Oh, I more thing....

The bible says,

"Who can find a virtuous woman?"
